Disc to digital

Well for todays post i wanted to talk about the fact that all pc games in particular are being pushed to the forefront of this transition, Constant internet connections required to play games in single player, The fact that you cannot even play the games you bought offline, its just boggling how people can even comprehend the fact that they can take away your ability to play a game you’ve paid good money for and not do anything about it.

It has been discussed that they want to stop producing physical copies of games to distribute, well there are the good and bad points to consider and as far as i can see the only good point is the fact that the games don't end up in landfill sites when they have lived pass their usefulness, The bad points however are far more extensive and depend on the publishing companies.

First the bad points that are not affected by the attitude of publishing companies

- If they have no games to sell, companies like Game would be reduced to selling gaming merchandise or closing completely.

- The amount of jobs that would be lost in the production and distribution of those physical copies would be immense.

- Where will all the competition go? Won’t all the publishers just want to open their own steam like online stores? *cough* Origin *cough*

- Prices, knowing that they don’t have any production or distribution will it make any difference to the price tag? Probably not.

-If the games are only sold online via the publisher will they ever get their prices dropped? Not likely.
